Designed a sci-fi inspired showcase layout using space, contrast, and minimal UI to support visual storytelling.
This template was designed to explore a space-themed aesthetic using open layouts, dark backgrounds, and minimal interface elements. Line and outline imagery were used alongside light accents to reinforce a sci-fi tone, giving the impression of viewing content through a futuristic interface.
Game showcase websites often struggle to balance visual impact with clarity, especially when working with dark themes and highly detailed imagery. The goal of this project was to design a showcase template that felt immersive and futuristic, while still allowing users to easily scan content, identify key calls to action, and focus on featured gameplay moments.
The challenge was to create atmosphere through layout, colour, and contrast without sacrificing usability or overwhelming the user.
Given the outer-space theme, the colour palette is largely neutral, allowing imagery and content to remain the primary focus. Bright accent colours were selectively introduced to draw attention to calls to action and interactive elements, creating moments of visual energy within the interface.
Light accents were also used to frame sections and components, helping contain content while reinforcing a futuristic, data-driven aesthetic.
Typography was chosen for strong character presence, particularly when capitalised. As the design relies on minimal text, it was important that headings and labels stood out clearly against dark backgrounds and detailed imagery. The typeface supports impact and legibility, ensuring that key information remains readable without competing with the visuals.
Small grid-based image galleries were a key pattern used to showcase gameplay moments and points of interest. While these galleries would benefit from further consistency, the use of light accent borders helps each image maintain its own space and visual hierarchy. This approach allows individual images to stand out while still feeling cohesive within the overall layout.
