RC Plumbing & Heating is a single-page website created for a local business. I was brought into the project to assist with the design for a client, with the primary goal of showcasing completed work and providing clear, accessible contact options for potential customers.
Local service businesses often rely on word of mouth but lack a clear online presence that showcases their work and makes it easy for potential customers to get in touch. The goal of this project was to design a simple, professional website that builds trust quickly and encourages direct contact. The site needed to clearly present services and previous work while prioritising fast access to contact methods such as phone and social media.
As the client already had an established logo, the colour palette was largely predefined. Orange and blue were the primary brand colours; however, orange was chosen as the dominant accent throughout the site. Darker neutral background sections were used to increase contrast, allowing the orange to stand out clearly, helping guide the user through the page.
The typeface used in the logo was intentionally not carried into the interface, as it did not perform well for on-screen reading. When tested at paragraph length, it introduced unnecessary visual noise and reduced scan efficiency.
Instead, I selected a neutral, interface-focused font pairing chosen purely for readability and hierarchy, rather than brand expression. Cabinet Grotesk is used for headings due to its strong structure and clarity at larger sizes, while Satoshi is used for body text because of its clean forms and consistent legibility in extended reading.
This separation allows the content to remain clear and effortless to consume, while the hierarchy is communicated through weight, size, and spacing rather than decorative type choices.
